To provide the students with the knowledge of the judicial
practice of Estonia and of the European Court of Human Rights and of the actual
problems of the penal power and the Imprisonment Act upon execution of
imprisonment. |

| Study outcome |

Is familiar with the essential judicial practice of the European Court of Human
Rights upon execution of imprisonment;
Is able to analyze and evaluate the connection and the influence of the solutions
of the European Court of Human Rights on the practice of execution of
imprisonment in Estonia and to make the relevant proposals;
Is familiar with different international standards regulating the execution of
imprisonment, is able to compare them analytically with the legal order of
Estonia and if needed, to make proposals for changes in legal acts to be carried
out in practice;
Is familiar with the principles and the problems of performing the penal power
and a criminal proceeding upon preliminary investigation of more frequent
crimes committed in prisons;
Is able to direct and plan resources enacting upon the preliminary investigation of
the crimes committed in prison;
Is familiar with the judicial practice and the theoretical issues of execution of
imprisonment and of administrative proceedings and is able to analyze and
compare them and to make proposals for changing the practice of the legal acts. |
