Curriculum: Rescue Service 2016
AdmissionThe person applying for the specialty of Rescue Service must meet the following requirements:
• the requirements set for state or local government officials in the Public Service Act, including the requirement to be a citizen of the Republic of Estonia and in terms of their mental and personality traits to be suitable for public service and to comply with health and physical training requirements pursuant to legislation; • the requirements set for a student in the Institutions of the Professional Higher Education Act, he/she also has to have a diploma of secondary education, or equivalent qualification Degreerakenduskõrgharidusõppe diplom
(Diploma of Professional Higher Education) AimThe knowledge and skills of the graduate of the Rescue service curriculum meet the professional levels of a fire inspector (level 6) and of a rescue commander (level 6).

Graduation Thesis Learning outcomesThe graduate of the curriculum of the Rescue Service:
• understands the principles of the functioning of the society, of the EU, of the state and the organisation; • knows the legal norms of the European Union and of the Republic of Estonia, knows how to implement them; • understands the factors affecting human behaviour, and the principles of management and organisational behaviour; • knows how to create and maintain safe environment, has the knowledge of preventing dangerous situations and of offering operative and professional help in case of a rescue incident; • can perform works related with prevention, fire safety supervision, crisis regulation and rescue operations; • is aware of the works related with demining and emergency call proceedings; • is able to analyse, can solve professional problems using modern means of information technology; • has the skills necessary for planning, organising and managing; • works individually and if necessary cooperates with other state and local agencies and non-profit associations; • follows the core values of rescue agencies and the code of ethics of a rescue worker.
